📌 Street vendors are the backbone of our local economies. They put in immense effort to provide us with affordable and unique goods

📌 By choosing to support them, we empower these small businesses and help create a more inclusive and sustainable economic environment

▶️ This year, I envisioned a DIWALI celebration that would not only light up my home but also touch the lives of those around me

👉 Yesterday, I took half a day off to go street shopping. I bought handcrafted clay lamps. The texture of the clay, the earthy scent - it all felt so genuine ❤️ 

👉 Then, I purchased two sarees from a local shop. The shopkeeper graciously offered me a cup of tea and narrated the fascinating history behind the creation of these sarees

📌 He explained the origins of the zari, the source of the fabric, the intricate process involved, down to the details of packaging

📌 He even candidly shared insights into the gross margin %, foot traffic in his shop, customer attraction strategies, & the challenges he faces

▶️ It was truly enlightening to gain such a wealth of knowledge simply by choosing to support a local vendor

👉 Then I bought colors from street shops, created a grand rangoli at my doorstep

🎯 This Diwali, let us collectively commit to dedicating a portion of our earnings towards philanthropic endeavors

👉 This may involve visiting a nearby old-age home or orphanage and supporting local artisans, including those who sell lamps, colors, sweets, paintings, and firecrackers

📌 This DIWALI, let's go beyond the ordinary and choose to be 'Vocal for Local'

▶️ Your purchase directly impacts the lives of these vendors and their families, allowing them to have a brighter and more prosperous Diwali

I have taken a day off today and I'm looking forward to indulging myself with some more local shopping
